Excited about being in Brussels but missing home (Goa) very much, Yahel admits she “doesn’t like to be too much out of India. I’m excited, but frozen (in Brussels),” and then quickly begins to talk about her project.
“The opening was a great success. I’m busy with interviews, critics, galleries, and travel. My encounter with Elaine Levy was a beautiful surprise of a lifetime! I was in Europe and a friend took me to an opening, which was Elaine’s gallery. I totally loved Elaine’s energy. We had lunch and talked about a great deal about art.”
Soon, Elaine proposed to Yahel for a show at her gallery for one month. “The Elaine Levy Project is one of those very special, prestigious enclaves,” says Yahel. “She gave me the freedom to completely use my ideas. That’s a great chance for an artist as well as a great responsibility.” |

| Yahel’s installations on display in Brussels are best described as “luminescent, surreal like being inside a cloud.” You may enter through a low, discreet door, but henceforth you’re in a riot of complexity, contradiction, a place shrouded in mystery, removed from time and space, suspended between reality and fantasy and the magnificently perverse. Light and environment penetrate and interlock, as if engaged in a long, intricate kiss. Yahel believes her new collection evolves from her old style to define sensuality, lightness, and levity more than ever. |

Having witnessed her artistic poetry in work and daily life, I fully understand Yahel’s quest for perfection. “A good place appeals to the eye, a great place appeals to the mind. I love to consider my place (Monsoon Heritage) as ever in process. I love flexibility and like to move energies. I love places to be alive. Once something goes mainstream, it's over for me. My passion is to shake things up, to change things, to violate the status quo. What I like is creating an atmosphere. For me this is where art, energy, and life come in,” she elaborates passionately.

“My friends are principally Goans. I have built strong and deep friendships here. They are my life and I love them. I came here with an open heart and humility, ready to give, and without seeking anything. I received so much! Today, as a person, a woman, and an artist, I’m definitely richer by everything that this land has given me. Maybe, love is the password, don’t forget that!”
With much of her work commissioned to clients and private collectors spread across India, Lebanon, Italy, California, New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, Miami, and Rome, right from industrialist and tycoon Vijay Mallya, industrialist Nikki and Samantha Nayar, N. Bajaj, Avanti and Yash Birla, Park Hotels in India, Taj Hotel Group, actress Simone Singh and husband Fahad Samaar, Malavika Sanghvi, Devika and Suresh Bhojwani, avant garde trend setter Sangita Kathiwada, European Delhi based fashion designers Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar, advertising pioneer Bal Mundkur, Yahel’s mirrors sculpture and choreograph daily life through reflections and light. |
